Suzhou City
Suzhou, often hailed as the "Venice of the East," is a city where ancient heritage gracefully blends with modern vitality. With a history spanning over 2,500 years, it was once a major center of the silk trade and classical Chinese culture during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Today, Suzhou is celebrated worldwide for its exquisite classical gardens—nine of which are UNESCO World Heritage sites—featuring serene ponds, elegant pavilions, and timeless landscaping artistry.
Beyond the gardens, the city is crisscrossed by historic canals and adorned with whitewashed houses, stone bridges, and time-honored pagodas. Suzhou is also famous for its delicate silk production, Kunqu Opera (a UNESCO intangible heritage), and refined handicrafts like Suzhou embroidery. Located just a short high-speed train ride from Shanghai, Suzhou offers both tranquility and convenience. Whether you explore the historic Pingjiang Road, visit the iconic Humble Administrator's Garden, or admire the modern skyline around Jinji Lake, Suzhou promises an unforgettable cultural experience.
