Belle II实验冬季学校是Belle II中国组每年举办的重要学术活动,旨在为国内粒子物理学科的研究生提供深入学习前沿理论与实验技术的平台。通过系统性的课程安排和系列培训,学员将掌握粒子物理实验的关键技术与数据分析方法,进一步深化对粒子物理学的理解,夯实科研基础,提升研究能力。冬季学校的核心内容包括粒子物理学理论基础;Belle II探测器;统计学相关知识;Belle II实验通用数据分析工具以及与谱学研究相关技能;Belle II物理分析:通过亮点工作和实例介绍数据分析;Belle II运行值班培训;实践操作和报告竞赛:开展小组项目,利用模拟与真实数据进行实践操作。

The Belle II Winter School is an important annual academic event organized by the Belle II China Group. It aims to provide graduate students in particle physics in China with a platform for in-depth study of cutting-edge theories and experimental techniques. Through systematic courses and a series of training sessions, participants will learn key techniques and data analysis methods used in particle physics experiments, further deepen their understanding of fundamental particle physics, strengthen their research foundations, and improve their research capabilities. The core contents of the Winter School include the theoretical foundations of particle physics; the Belle II detector; statistical methods; general data analysis tools used in the Belle II experiment and techniques related to spectroscopy studies; Belle II physics analysis, with selected highlight results and representative examples used to introduce data analysis methods; Belle II operation and shift training; and hands-on exercises and presentation competitions, in which participants work on group projects using simulated and real data.


本冬季学校已成功举办五届:2018年复旦大学举办首届,2019年中国科学技术大学举办第二届,2021年河南师范大学举办第三届(主题:软件和数据分析),2024年南开大学举办第四届(主题:陶轻子和B介子物理),2025年在湖南师范大学举办第五届(主题:探测器和CP破坏)。本届冬季学校为第六届,由东南大学承办。

The Belle II Winter School has been successfully held five times. The first Winter School was hosted by Fudan University in 2018, followed by the second at the University of Science and Technology of China in 2019. The third was held at Henan Normal University in 2021, with a focus on software and data analysis. The fourth took place at Nankai University in 2024, focusing on tau lepton and B-meson physics. The fifth was held at Hunan Normal University in 2025, with a focus on detectors and CP violation. The present Winter School is the sixth edition and is hosted by Southeast University.

【课程安排】本届冬季学校以谱学研究为主题,重点覆盖强子谱、重子谱及(奇异)粲介子衰变等前沿方向。培训课程系统安排了三场导入式理论报告,为学员奠定一定物理基础。在实验技术方面,课程包括探测器原理及其与物理分析的关联讲解、Belle II运行现状与近期计划、BASF2软件实操、真实数据与蒙特卡罗样品介绍、产生子(Generators)及GRID计算平台使用等内容。数据分析方法方面,则系统讲授统计学基础、散射截面与初态辐射修正、系统误差处理,以及ROOT、RooFit、MVA和振幅分析等工具的使用。教学过程中还安排了多个半天的分组实操与讨论环节,引导学员针对实际物理问题开展基础分析练习,并以口头报告形式进行竞赛。此外,结合当前Belle II正在运行取数的实际情况,本次冬季学校特别增设了运行值班培训和KEK出差与生活攻略,帮助学员更好地适应实验现场工作环境。欢迎各位老师积极推荐有需要的学生参加本届冬季学校。

【Program】
This Winter School focuses on spectroscopy, with particular emphasis on frontier topics including hadron spectroscopy, baryon spectroscopy, and (exotic) charmed-meson decays. The program includes three introductory theory lectures designed to provide participants with the necessary physics background.

On experimental techniques, the courses cover detector principles and their connections to physics analyses, the current status and near-term plans of Belle II operation, hands-on training with the BASF2 software framework, introductions to real data and Monte Carlo samples, event generators, and the use of the GRID computing platform.

For data analysis methods, the program provides systematic training in the fundamentals of statistics, scattering cross sections and initial-state-radiation corrections, treatment of systematic uncertainties, as well as the use of ROOT, RooFit, MVA, and amplitude analysis tools.

Several half-day group hands-on and discussion sessions are also included. Participants will be guided to carry out basic analysis exercises based on realistic physics problems, followed by an oral presentation competition.

In addition, considering that Belle II is currently taking data, this Winter School will also provide dedicated training for Belle II shift duties, together with practical guidance on business trips to KEK and daily life in Japan, to help participants better adapt to the on-site experimental environment.

Faculty members are warmly encouraged to recommend students who may benefit from this Winter School.
