Visa Application

Please note that most non-Chinese citizens need a valid Chinese visa to visit IHEP. Ms. Juan REN from IHEP International Office may help with the preparation for necessary documents.

Please refer to the following instructions to get a Chinese visa.

1. First, you are kindly reminded to check the status of your passport.

2. Choose the category of visa you will need to apply for.

For short-term visitors to IHEP, we recommend applying for “F” type visa or “L” type visa.

3. Applying for “F” category visa

You may apply for “F” category visa (business visa) with an official visa letter issued by IHEP or Chinese Academy of Sciences. Please feel free to contact Ms. Juan REN (renjuan@ihep.ac.cn) for the visa letter.

4. Applying for “L” category visa

You may also apply for “L” category visa (tourist visa) with the help of a travel agency or by following the instruction of the website of the local Chinese embassy or consulate.

5. Submitting visa application materials to your local Chinese consulate or embassy.

Please note that different embassies or consulates may require different materials for visa application. Please visit the website of the local Chinese embassy or consulate to check the necessary materials before submitting.

Applicants are suggested to initiate the process at thier earliest convenience, adequate time (> 1.5 month) should be allowed for processing visa applications.
