Summary
Discriminating jets originating from light-flavor quarks or gluons is important both in pp and heavy ion collisions. Their discrimination enhances sensitivity to physics beyond the Standard Model in pp collisions as well as deepens our understanding of the jet quench modeling in heavy ion collisions. I will present the current status, challenges, and ongoing studies of the quark-gluon discrimination in pp collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. Prospects for heavy ion analyses will also be briefly mentioned.
