RHIC-STAR能量扫描计划的主要物理动机之一是确定核物质在高重子密度区的状态方程(EOS)。格点量子色动力学(Lattice QCD)预言从强子相到部分子相的一级相边界终点是QCD临界点。直接流($v_{1}$)是末态粒子在动量空间方位角分布的傅里叶展开式中的一阶系数。根据理论计算,直接流对于碰撞系统早期演化的状态方程很敏感,可作为QGP相结构研究的良好探针。STAR已经完成了对撞能量$\sqrt{s_{NN}}$= 7.7-200 GeV的一期能量扫描计划(BES-I),和固定靶3 GeV中直接流的测量。其中在$\sqrt{s_{NN}}$= 10-20 GeV观察到净质子和净$\Lambda$超子的直接流斜率($dv_{1}/dy$)在中快度区有极小值。根据流体力学模型和一级相变的计算,净重子在中心快度区直接流的斜率随能量分布的极小值被认为是一级相变的标志。在固定靶3 GeV中,观察到可鉴别粒子的直接流与高能重离子碰撞的显著不同,表明强子相互作用占据主导地位。
