Description
Jets produced in heavy-ion collisions interact with the hot and dense quark–gluon plasma, leading to parton energy loss, redistribution of jet energy, and possible broadening of the jet direction. The azimuthal correlation between a high-pT trigger hadron and recoil jets provides a sensitive probe of these medium-induced modifications.
In this contribution, we present measurements of semi-inclusive charged-jet distributions recoiling from a high-pT trigger hadron in pp and central Pb–Pb collisions at 5.02 TeV with ALICE. A data-driven subtraction technique is used to suppress the large uncorrelated background, enabling measurements over a broad range of jet transverse momentum, azimuthal angle, and jet resolution parameter (R), including the low-pT region. The recoil-jet yield and acoplanarity distributions in Pb–Pb collisions are compared with those in pp collisions to investigate jet suppression, energy redistribution, and medium-induced azimuthal broadening. The dependence of these effects on jet pT and R, together with comparisons to theoretical model calculations, provides further insight into jet–medium interactions and the response of the QGP.
