喷注是硬散射过程产生的高能部分子强子化后的准直粒子束流，是检测微扰量子色动力学的重要探针。在重离子碰撞中，部分子喷注穿过夸克-胶子等离子体（QGP）时发生能量损失，这一现象被称为喷注淬火。除喷注本身的能量损失外，部分子沉积到介质中的能量与动量还会激发局域介质的响应，形成所谓的喷注耗散尾流效应。理论上，这种介质响应包含两种主要成分：沿喷注方向传播的马赫锥声波激发，以及在喷注反方向上因动量守恒导致的粒子产额耗尽，即耗散尾流。耗散尾流作为喷注-介质相互作用的独特信号，近年来受到理论和实验的高度关注。最新研究进展表明，CMS通过双喷注的关联测量显示了耗散尾流效应的相关信号，ALICE合作组亦计划在LHC第三期运行取得的数据中开展相关研究，以补充和完善CMS的相关策略，深入理解该实验现象的物理机制。
