Description
Two EtherCAT‑based motion control systems have been integrated into EPICS via Modbus TCP at the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS). The Very Small Angle Neutron Scattering (VSANS) instrument employs Beckhoff hardware paired with BiSS‑C absolute encoders to implement full‑closed‑loop control of more than 60 axes. Laser interferometer measurements verify its linear positioning accuracy of ±2 μm. The Associated Proton Experimental Platform (APEP) beamline adopts fully domestic Inovance PLCs, where the EPICS IOC runs on-board the AC800 controller. This system controls beamline components including collimators, degraders and sample stages, and has operated stably for over five years. This presentation describes the system architecture, hardware configuration, and EPICS integration approach for both implementations.
