Description
The event timing system has been operating reliably in multiple large accelerator facilities worldwide. Recent developments include a network-wide global interlock function driven by special downstream event codes, a priority-queueing mechanism for full-duplex event codes, and a GNSS-synchronized hardware time-stamping function compatible with the MRF timing system. The system has also been ported to the MicroTCA.4 platform, where each timing module reserves two PCIe buses for communication with the master and slave MCHs, supporting future AI applications. Together with magnet power supplies, low-level RF (LLRF) control, beam diagnostics, and interlock systems, among others, the event timing system enables fine-grained control, real-time fault diagnosis, and intelligent, autonomous commissioning and operation of large accelerator facilities.
