Description
The timing system of J-PARC accelerator complex has been in operation over 20 years. For J-PARC Main Ring, 45 VME-type timing receivers have been utilized since 2008. However, maintenance has now become nearly impossible.
A new PLC-type receiver was designed in 2024 to replace the VME-type ones. First mass production of 20 pieces took place in 2025. In April 2026, the first PLC-type receiver was put into operation to provide timing signals for the injection kicker system. Three additional receivers are installed during the summer maintenance of 2026, to be in operation after November, 2026.
This report describes details of the PLC-type timing receiver, and current deployment status.
