Description
We developed a modular data acquisition platform that began at the Dalian Coherent Light Source (DCLS) and was extended in the current deployment at the Dalian Advanced Light Source (DALS). Its principal path archives operational data through EPICS Channel Access. PV subscriptions are distributed across independently supervised collector processes, allowing acquisition capacity to grow by adding processes. The PV list is periodically compared with an IOC management database; newly registered PVs are incorporated through configuration updates and controlled collector restarts. This provides an automated way to maintain coverage as the control system evolves.
As an alternative architecture for EPICS archiving, the platform stores typed values, source timestamps, and alarm information in TDengine. The time-series database also provides a common interface for monitoring, visualization, retrieval, export, and further analysis, so new services can be developed independently of the collectors. A separate high-rate path demonstrates the extensibility of this design: on a standard server, its software receiver has been tested with all 18 DALS beam position monitors operating at approximately 1 MHz per device. The presentation will discuss the implementation, operational experience, and measured capabilities of the EPICS path, and show how the shared data layer accommodates both routine operational signals and high-rate diagnostics.
