Description
"The measurement of the Z boson mass with the ATLAS detector provides a stringent test of the Standard Model, such as QCD and electroweak physics, at a new energy frontier.
Achieving a high-precision measurement of the Z boson mass using the dimuon final state requires an accurate calibration of the muon transverse momentum scale.
In this analysis, the calibration is perfomerd using the J/ψ and Upsilon Υ resonances. Using the full Run 2 dataset, the Z boson mass measurement at ATLAS is expected to be measured with a precision of few MeV, at the level of a single measurement from the LEP experiments.
The analysis is expected to be finalized by the end of 2026."
