CEPC Physics and Detector Plenary Meeting

Asia/Shanghai
A419 (IHEP)

A419

IHEP

Attending: Joao Guimaraes da Costa, Yaquan Fang, Hongbo Zhu, Xin Shi, Zhijun Liang, Manqi Ruan, Kaili Zhang, Gang Li, Xuai Zhuang, Zhaoru Zhang, Jianbei Liu (Vidyo), Huirong Qi (Vidyo)

1. Introduction and News by Joao
(1) Joao introduced the information for the coming conferences and the organization status of November workshop.
Steering group requests that the meeting should happen more regularly and that subgroup conveners report regularly at these meetings about the R&D activities within their groups. It is expected plenty of time to be dedicated to detailed discussions. We will produce schedule with timeline for expert reports one-two weeks ahead of time.
(2) Next meeting will be calorimeter reports. Manqi suggested that there will be a calorimeter workshop in CCNU on August 8-9th mainly organized by Jianbei. Maybe next regular meeting can be linked to this workshop. Joao said that he will contact Jianbei to discuss how to integrate them.

2. Overview of CEPC Physics and detector workshop in PKU by Manqi

(1) Progress to white papers on Higgs, QCD, EW and flavor is not bad. Lots of discussion and interesting ideas proposed. Many interesting benchmarks emerge, but need more manpower, especially on Flavor. Performance studies links closer the detector & performance, especially on the Flavor/QCD side.

(2) Manqi suggested to have another workshop during the IAS conference on Jan 13-15th, 2020. Please notice him if you think the time is conflicted with other conference. People suggested to have the workshop closely before the IAS conference because of the ARP approval and Spring Festival.

3. EWK session overview by Zhijun:

Zhijun will finish the draft of EW section in white paper in the begining of Augest.

4. Higgs session overview by Yaquan:
(1) Joao suggested to add labels for the plots. It can be  "CEPC 2019" or "CEPC Preliminary". Make sure there is no 365 GeV results public now.
(2) Joao: we know that 3T magnetic field is difficult to achieve, also accelerator people is studying  2T magnetic filed with higher luminosity. Detector group need to consider the possible adjustment as well. So we should research the impact from physics analyses on the detector design changes.
Manqi: The large impact of 2T may happens in H->mumu channel.

5. Report for Higgs at 360 GeV by Kaili:
Kaili shows the results of Higgs at 360GeV Extrapolation in several channels and the new fit techniques discussion.
(1) P7: For result of vvH->bb @ 360 GeV, Manqi said that the estimation of ttbar background with +20% is overestimated, it should be less than 20%.
(2) P9-10: The resolution of recoil mass of mumu @ 360 GeV looks too narrow. The resolution need to be scaled from 240 GeV. Manqi said that it would be better to have full simulation for 360 GeV.
(3) P16-17: The current results is not reliable, need more research for the 2D Roofit.
