CEPC Physics and detector regular meeting

Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 15:00 to 18:40 (Asia/Shanghai)
at IHEP ( A418 )

1. Introduction from Joao

Joao firstly introduce the integrate status and requirement of CDR editing. We will have the weekly meeting on every Wednesday, 3pm Beijing time. By using GitLab, each group should submit the first draft on 30th, Sept. So for each group, the first urgent step is submitting the outline of CDR and name list of editors.

For the basic description of detector concepts, at first, we have three options: TPC tracking, all-silicon tracking and drift chamber. However, people spent much time on discussing the choice between All-silicon tracker and drift chamber. As the decision, we plan to reserve the TPC tracking and drift chamber, and shorten the description of all-silicon to one paragraph, mentioning that all silicon tracker is also a good option, but the lack of manpower stops us on this time.

2. CDR Text and Git repository by Gang Li

Gang said that the Gitlab will be the repository of CDR documents. Each group members should apply for the account from http://cepcgit.ihep.ac.cn/users/sign_in. For more details about the operation, please read Gang’s slides.

3. Simulation by Manqi

Manqi shows the detailed outline for simulation part. It has 5 section: Physics Requirement, Detector Geometry and Description, Software & Simulation, Physics Performance, conclusion.  The detector systematic in section1 is now lack of manpower. And for section4, physics performance, people discussed whether should we isolated the detector performance with a new section. One opinion is that the parameter reflecting detector performance is quite different with corresponding parameters for physics performance, so it is not reasonable to put two contents in one section. The opposite opinion is that the detector design should rely on the physics requirement, so the study of physics performance should have some connection with detector part. So we need more discussion on this issue.

4. Status of dual readout calorimeter work and simulation  by Roberto

Roberto introduce the current status of Dual Readout calorimeter. Now they are working on RD52 testbeam and MC simulations study. For CDR writing, they already have a preliminary version for internal feedback, and some parts should be added in this week. Roberto is the editor for CDR.

5. Status of drift chamber work and simulation  by Francesco

Francesco states the details about CDR status for drift chamber. He shows the outline for drift chamber part, and the contents in each chapter. As the current version is written by Word, people suggest to change to latex version, in order to merge with other part.

6. Status of general simulation integration for IDEA   by Giovanni

Giovanni talks about the research status for IDEA DR calorimeter simulation tool. After the talk, people discuss how to merge the IDEA description into CDR. Then the simulation result from IDEA should fit to CEPC requirement.

7. Status of Calorimeter  by Tao Hu

Tao describes the outline and manpower for calorimeter CDR. As there are still several options for ECAL and HCAL, people suggest them picking up the baseline for CDR in one week.

8. Status of Vertex detector  by Qun

Qun mainly talks about the manpower and work arrangement for vertex CDR writing, also describe the main changes in vertex research.

9. Status of TPC tracker  by Huirong

Based on the previous talks, Huirong shows the new draft of CDR for TPC. Then he mainly talk about the TPC requirement, technical challenges and possible solution. The problem of ion back flow and distortion can be solved by continuous IBF module. They choose laser calibration system for the accuracy of calibration and alignment. At last, he list the manpower and activities for TPC editing.
