Description
sPHENIX is expected to be the premier experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) in the era beyond 2021. The sPHENIX scientific program will focus mainly on hard probes such as measurements of jets, heavy quarks and upsilons to study properties of the strongly coupled Quark-Gluon Plasma (sQGP) produced at RHIC. Eight Chinese Institutions (CCNU, Fudan, IMP-Lanzhou, PKU, SINAP, SYSU, Tsinghua and USTC) are currently members of the sPHENIX collaboration and more Chinese Institutions have expressed interest in the sPHENIX program. The 1st sPHENIX workshop in China will be held on April 22-23, 2018 at Beijing, hosted by PKU. We will highlight the scientific program and the detector design of the sPHENIX experiment, and discuss possible contributions from the Chinese sPHENIX consortium. The deadline to register for the workshop is March 2, 2018 in order to secure the recommended on campus guest house reservations. There might be a registration fee of 400 RMB to cover the coffee breaks and conference room if we couldn't get other financial support. If you need an invitation letter to apply for a Chinese visa, please contact Professor Yajun Mao maoyj@pku.edu.cn ASAP. Because of the Chinese New Year break, there may be extra delays in processing the invitation letters.
