CNRS: Dr. Angel M. Arevalo-Lopez

Dr. Angel M. Arevalo-Lopez is a researcher affiliated with the Centre National de la Recherche Scientific (CNRS) in France. His specialized in the synthesis and characterization of advanced functional materials. His work focuses on high-pressure techniques to stabilize novel oxide phases, enabling the discovery of materials with tailored electronic, magnetic, and structural properties. Dr. Arevalo-Lopez regularly employs neutron diffraction to probe the atomic-scale behavior of these materials, revealing insights into their crystal and magnetic structures along with their phase transitions.
Original from Mexico City (B.Sc. Physics UNAM, Mexico) Dr. Arevalo-Lopez performed his Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Alario-Franco in Spain (Ph.D. Inorganic Materials, UCM) to continue as a PDRA with Prof. Attfield in the University of Edinburgh, Scotland and join the CNRS in 2017.
His expertise in combining high-pressure synthesis with neutron scattering allows him to expand the horizons of what is chemically possible and to explore the frontiers of condensed matter physics, uncovering new phenomena in complex systems.
