Dr. Werner Schweika is a senior scientist at the Research Centre Jülich (FZJ) and a leading international expert in polarized neutron scattering and method development. He holds a PhD and habilitation in physics from RWTH Aachen University. His research spans disorder in alloys, thermoelectric materials and frustrated magnetism, supported by over 100 peer-reviewed publications.
A pioneer in neutron instrumentation and advanced methodologies, Dr. Schweika led the development of the DNS diffuse scattering spectrometer—originally built at Jülich and later operated at MLZ—as well as the POWTEX diffractometer at MLZ. Since 2012, he has contributed key input to the instrumentation at the European Spallation Source (ESS). He is the main proposer for the DREAM powder and single-crystal diffractometer and a driving force behind the MAGIC polarised single-crystal diffractometer, where his expertise in polarisation methods is helping shape the next generation of neutron scattering capabilities.
