2026 China-Europe School on Neutron and X-ray Scattering

The 2026 China-Europe School on Neutron and X-ray Scattering is supported by the Chinese Academy of Science. This workshop aims to fostering the next generation of young scientists working in and around large scientific facilities, in particular with neutron and X-ray sources, as well as promoting international cooperation. The workshop will offer a comprehensive and hands-on walk through on using neutron and X-ray instruments, including lectures, experiments at China Spallation Neutron Source, as well as data analysis. The official language of the workshop will be English, and we encourage and accept applications internationally. Senior scientists will guide the attendees through the experiments and data analysis, including instrument scientist from various neutron and synchrotron facilities, as well as experienced users of large-scale science facilities.
The CESNXS workshop will have a limited placement of 30 attendees, which will be selected by the organising committee based on the submitted application, based on the following application materials:

A short CV, which should include professional information (job title, research institution, field of research, academic career)*;

A motivation letter detailing the reasons to attend CESNXS;

An introduction/support letter from the supervisor or group leader.
*Note that the information will be used for workshop candidate selection.
The workshop does NOT require any registration fee; registration will include lunch and tea break during the workshop, also free of charge. Furthermore, the Chinese Academy of Science will support 15 participants with their accommodation fees at CSNS guesthouse (attendees could use different hotels at their own expense), as well as their airfare to and from China (the local organsing committee will purchase flight on behalf of the selected participant after discussion).
